Hello!
I’m Tara Messiter, Founder of Good Chat Project
Thanks for taking the time to learn a little about me and why I created this business.
I began my career as a physiotherapist working closely with people during challenging times. Later my work took me into occupational health, business development, leadership and training.
My work titles may have changed…but people have always been at the centre of what I do.
Throughout my career, I kept seeing how easily people can misunderstand each other, even when both have good intentions.
We tend to speak in a way that feels natural to us, without always recognising that someone may need a different approach. Learning to notice that - and adjust our style to how we listen and respond - can change the conversation.
That’s why I created Good Chat Project.
We help individuals, leaders and teams understand their own style of communication, recognise what others might need, and communicate in ways that build understanding - especially when the conversation is difficult.
I believe growth starts with self-awareness. When we understand ourselves and make room to understand others, better conversations become possible. And better conversations can change the way we work and live.
I believe…
Growth starts with self awareness.
Understanding others builds empathy
The way we communicate can change what happens next

My big why
In a world of virtual workplaces, where we text more than we talk, the ability to connect through conversation matters more than ever.
So many relationships and opportunities are shaped by conversations we din’t quite know how to have.
I founded Good Chat Project to help people understand themselves, adapt how they communicate and find words for the difficult moments. These are skills we can learn and practise - and in a digital world, we need them more than ever.
